KUAS PARTICIPATED IN THE ERASMUS+ ADULT EDUCATION COURSE
On 14–18 February 2022, the lecturers of the Experiential Learning Centre of the KUAS Evelina Darulienė and Vitalija Mikutaitienė, the Director of the KUAS Assoc. Prof. Dr Ramunė Bagdonaitė-Stelmokienė and Public Relations Specialist Monika Terzytė, went to the Erasmus+ Adult Education training organised by Anatolia Education in Barcelona, Spain. The training subject was Andragogy & Self-Directed Learning; it was led by Yildiz Alice, a lecturer, educator, and ICT expert.
On the first day (14 February), the participants from Lithuania and Latvia presented their national higher education systems and compared the differences between Lithuania, Latvia, and France. On the second and third days of the training (15–16 February), participants explored the differences between andragogy specialists and educators, discussed the principles of training and self-learning methods, and how adults can empower themselves with their knowledge.
On the fourth day (17 February), the training moved outdoors, with group exercises that allowed to interact with different people, applying andragogy principles. In the second half of the day, a meeting was held with the NGO Homeless Entrepreneur representatives. The organisation aims to reduce poverty through work, learning, and active citizenship so that people living on the margins of society can improve their quality of life and choose a unique way of life. During the meeting, the participants had the unique opportunity to interact with formerly homeless people, hear their thoughts, understand the circumstances leading to their social exclusion. The discussion focused on the characteristics of adult learning the ways to motivate and empower to seek learning and education.
On the last day of the training (18 February), the participants took part in a debriefing session, sharing the knowledge they had gained discussing the methods used throughout the training and their application in practice. Certificates of participation were granted.
