2021 is a special year for Kolping University of Applied Sciences (KUAS). Last week, KUAS celebrated its 25th anniversary of its activities. Even though the University is quite small according to its study programmes and the number of students, it has noticeably clear education philosophy, based on learning principles by Kolping, and is a member of a wide international Kolping network. It also trains specialists needed for the needs of Kaunas region, Lithuanian and European labour markets, who not only are able to apply the knowledge and skills of their studies, but also base their activities on Christian morality.
During the period of University activity, the University has developed such a culture of higher education institution that accepts and unites different views by redirecting them towards the work in the same direction, enables the internal inertia to work, encourages to follow the principles of lifelong learning and to concentrate on reaching clear and ambitious goals. Exceptional features of KUAS culture are the following: special attention to the person and respect to the student’s personality, fostering of the community spirit, constant help in forming the principles of Christian morality and accumulating the internal potential for the humanisation of social, environmental, and economic environment in the country.
We, the community of KUAS, are grateful to everyone who has participated in the celebration: Kęstutis Kėvalas, His Excellency Metropolitan archbishop of Kaunas, who gave heart-warming and meaningful Mass, canon Saulius Filipavičius, Chair of Lithuanian Kolping Foundation, and Lina Kalibataitė, national secretary of the Lithuanian Kolping Foundation and Lithuanian Kolping Society, as well as honoured guests from Germany and Switzerland, members of the Academic Council, social partners, university directors and their representatives, the administration, lecturers, students and Alumni.
We are sincerely grateful to the host of celebration party Andrius Janušauskas for creating cosy atmosphere, the photographer Viktorija Zaveckaitė for capturing the important moments, the winners of international contests and their supervisor at VMU Music Academy prof. Sabina Martinaitytė, prof. Audronė Eitmanavičiūtė, musical ensemble “The Shoekiller Band” for wonderful sounds of jazz and “Gėlių švenčių namai” for decorating the celebration with unique colours of KUAS.
A sincere thank you!
