Meeting of the Academic Council of Kolping University of Applied Sciences

Today, a meeting of the Academic Council of Kolping University of Applied Sciences (KUAS) was held remotely. The meeting was attended by the staff of KUAS administration, social partners, and members of the student union. The meeting was opened with the blessing of Kaunas Metropolitan Archbishop Kęstutis Kėvalas, member of the Academic Council, and the Chairman of the Academic Council Dominic Otto gave a welcome speech.
The main purpose of the Council meeting was to discuss and to approve the KUAS strategic action plan for 2021-2023, which was presented by the Director of KUAS, Dr. Ramunė Bagdonaitė-Stelmokienė. Before presenting the strategic action plan, the Director expressed her delight about the new study program “Transport Logistics”, which was successfully launched in September 2020. It has attracted new social partners and established new contacts with specialists in this field. She mentioned also the success of the international student conference which took place remotely in November 2020. The conference which was held online for the first time, also became relevant to students from abroad, who attended in higher numbers than usual. There was one more achievement to be happy about: KUAS has been awarded a new Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, approving the admission to the Erasmus Mobility Program for 2021-2027.
The Director presented the main directions of activities foreseen in the strategic action plan:
- To provide high-quality studies in line with the provisions of the European Higher Education Area and needs of the labour market, integrating the latest scientific and technological developments.
- To strengthen the efficiency of KUAS management, focused on fostering community identity.
- To develop applied research, advise, when necessary, local government, non-governmental organizations and other entities, taking into account the study objectives, needs of the labour market, and regional development strategy.
- To develop expansion of internationalization by increasing public awareness of KUAS.
After active discussions and proposals, the Academic Council voted on the Strategic Action Plan and it was unanimously approved.
At the end of the meeting, Director also presented the plan for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of KUAS: events and initiatives will continue throughout this year.
