Representatives of KUAS participated in an international conference in Germany

On 10 – 11 October 2016, Ramunė Bagdonaitė-Stelmokienė, head of the Social Welfare Centre, and Dalia Gineitienė, Manager of International Relations, participated in the international conference “Social diversity – international social work in the intercultural decolonial dimension. Social work with refugees and migrants.” Ramunė Bagdonaitė-Stelmokienė made a presentation “Social exclusion and inclusion in Lithuania”. The conference was held at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Among participants were researchers from Europe, Asia and South America.
On the basis of their country experiences, conference participants discussed various aspects of social diversity: gender issues; people professing different religions and their peaceful coexistence; people with special needs and their inclusion; local people, their values and integration of refugees and migrants; the role of communities in solving social problems; social work management in a changing society, etc.
There was discussion about the global aspects of this subject, especially intercultural and decolonial perspective in social work, discussing social work in Europe, South America and India.
There was also a scientific discussion about social diversity and migration studies (internal migration, emigration and immigration), and social work as a science and as a profession; possible joint research projects were discussed.
