Conference “Development of Social Entrepreneurship in Changing Society”
On 21 March 2019, an international scientific-practical conference “Development of Social Entrepreneurship in Changing Society” took place at Kolping University of Applied Sciences. The conference brought together not only researchers, scientists, but also practitioners who actively shared the good experiences of social business and also challenges which are faced in the development of social business.
The conference was attended and presentations were made by guests from Germany (Higher School of Business, Technology and Culture), Latvia (Riga Stradiņš University), Czech Republic (VOŠ, OA, SPgŠ, SZŠ Most CZ). From Lithuania, we had speakers from the Third Age University, Lithuanian Social Business Association, Marijampolė Help Centre, Mykolas Romeris University, National Integration Institute, Kolping Primary School, Vytautas Magnus University. Practical examples of social business were shared by the salad bar “Mano guru” (My Guru) and Public institution “Penki pojūčiai” (Five senses).
After the plenary session, 80 participants of the conference continued the work in 2 groups (in Lithuanian and English):
Group 1. Social Entrepreneurship Challenges and Good Practice in Lithuania.
In this group, participants shared their experiences on social innovation, actively discussed about subsidiarity in providing assistance to victims of mobbing. They also shared experiences about the activities of the care centre in Marijampolė municipality and presented examples of social business in Lithuania.
Group 2. Social Entrepreneurship Challenges and Good Practice in foreign countries
In this group, Czech social enterprises and the good practice in Czech Republic were presented, as well as social business in Lithuania, and participants actively discussed about the development of pilgrimage tourism in Lithuania.
