On 7-9 February and 7-9 March, the head of the Social Welfare Centre and lecturer Ramunė Bagdonaitė-Stelmokienė, and the coordinator of the Student Services Centre and lecturer Evelina Darulienė participated in the training “Preparation for escort care – a system of protection of children’s rights for the specialists and youth”, organized by SOS Children’s Villages in Lithuania.
“Through reflective learning, sharing our personal and professional experience, we were able to better understand the challenges faced by young people when they leave care institutions, and how to help them succeed in the transition to the independent life. Training supervisors Rimvydas Augutavičius and Rita Škriadaitė-Vrubliauskė shared the best practices of other countries (Spain, Latvia, Italy, Croatia),” – said Bagdonaitė-Stelmokienė.
In the opinion of E. Darulienė, the training was especially enriched by the stories and observations of Renalda, who had lived in the orphanage. “It was interesting and useful to hear the true opinion of a young person who has experienced and felt it all, the opinion on various issues related to escort care”, – Darulienė shared.
